When is the Best Time to Visit Uganda?
Uganda straddles the equator and enjoys a tropical climate, making it a year-round destination. However, the best time to visit depends on your activities.
Dry Seasons (Best for Safari & Trekking)
June to September and December to February are the driest months. Roads are more passable, vegetation is thinner for game viewing, and gorilla trekking trails are less muddy.
Wet Seasons (Best for Budget Travel)
March to May and October to November see heavier rains. Lodges offer significant discounts, and the landscape is lush and green. Bird watching is excellent during wet months.
Gorilla Trekking
Available year-round. Dry season treks are more comfortable, but wet season permits are easier to book. The gorillas themselves are active in all weather.
The Great Migration
If combining with Kenya/Tanzania, July-October is prime migration season.
